“Arts Thrive & Grow” is a dynamic program that supports artists, non-profits, and art-based organizations in the capital region.
By investing in these creative endeavors, we not only foster artistic innovation but also drive economic development, ensuring that the arts continue to flourish, thrive, and contribute to the sustainable growth of our creative economy in the capital region.
All grants will be awarded by using a panel of your peers in an objective scoring process. Arts Thrive and Grow has been funded by New York State, Kathy Hochul, Governor.
We thank Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart Cousins for her extraordinary commitment and leadership, and our elected officials who represent our grantmaking region: Senators Jake Ashby and Neil D. Breslin; Assemblymembers Scott H. Bendett, Patricia Fahy, John T. McDonald III, Angelo Santabarbara, Phil Steck, and Mary Beth Walsh.

The Critical Forum program is an intensive professional development opportunity for emerging and mid-career artists.
Each year, a maximum of twelve participants are chosen for this program through an open-call application process (details will be announced in February 2024). The cohort meets monthly over 6 months at The Arts Center in Troy, NY. These focused group critiques are led by the Critical Forum Program Director plus invited colleagues from the field, including arts professionals from the Hudson Valley region and beyond.
The Critical Forum program is offered by The Arts Center in conjunction with funding from the Visual Arts program at the New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and Key Bank.

Welcome to the Arts Center of the Capital Region!
We have been teaching art to the general public for over 60 years and in that time we have learned:
Making art together bonds people together. From learning how to use a new tool, to getting your hands dirty, to sharing with your group
why you like the color blue, making art together always finds new ways to connect us.
There is reason to be nervous about having talent or being creative.
We can leave million-dollar art to Picasso. We’re here to experience the satisfaction of using our hands, express ourselves, and listen to
our peers express themselves.
Our artists want you to enjoy yourselves. Nothing makes an artist feel better than turning others on to making art. We hire highly skilled
professionals who will engage and encourage your team.
We’re here to make sure you have a great experience. We will help you choose your project, sift through art supplies and tools, and complement the experience with refreshments.
Join us for a unique experience that will bond, motivate and delight your staff.
