You will learn the techniques of pastel painting using pastels on a textured surface, either sanded paper, velour paper, or specially prepared paper that offers enough of a “tooth” or rough surface texture to have the pastel coat the surface. The ease of drawing and the color possibilities of painting are combined in this fun, easy to use medium. You will work from the still life and figure while learning beginning principles of pastel technique, organization of palette and various working surfaces. Fundamental principles of good drawing and color combinations will be taught so that you will quickly be on your way to success.
