Guest Curator Opportunities
The Arts Center of the Capital Region
The Arts Center of the Capital Region is seeking guest curators to organize contemporary group exhibitions in the Jane Altes Gallery. We welcome proposals from independent curators, artists with curatorial experience, and arts professionals interested in developing an engaging
exhibition that highlights contemporary visual art and creates meaningful connections with our community.
This opportunity is designed to bring new curatorial voices to The Arts Center while providing an opportunity to lead a collaborative exhibition from concept through installation. The selected curator will work independently while collaborating with Arts Center staff throughout the planning and presentation of the exhibition.
Due to the high level of interest, we are now accepting submissions on a rolling basis to provide greater flexibility and accommodate additional applicants.
The Arts Center plans to present one guest-curated exhibition each year. Applications will be reviewed as opportunities become available and may be considered for upcoming or future exhibition cycles.
Annual Schedule
The guest-curated exhibition generally follows this schedule:
Curator selected: September/October
Installation: Early to mid-January
Exhibition: Mid-January through early May
Opening reception: Late January
Deinstallation: Mid-May
Exact dates will vary from year to year. Applicants under consideration for an upcoming exhibition will receive the confirmed schedule during the selection process.
