Fence 2026

June 17  – July 31, 2026

Opening Reception & Awards Ceremony:
Friday, June 26 6–8pm, During Troy Night Out
The Jane Altes Gallery

Open to all members of The Arts Center of the Capital Region, the Fence Show celebrates artists at every stage of their practice and across all media. The exhibition reflects our belief that creative expression has no boundaries of experience, style, or discipline.

For Fence 2026, we are honored to welcome Joe Concra as this year’s Fence Select Juror. Concra is a painter and one of the original founders of the O+ Festival in Kingston, New York. His paintings explore glimmers of hope and illuminated edges through classical oil painting techniques, creating worlds that feel both familiar and dreamlike.

In 2010, after meeting a local dentist, Concra helped launch O+, a collaborative project that connects artists and musicians with healthcare through creative exchange. What began as a grassroots initiative evolved into a nationally recognized festival and cultural movement addressing the challenges faced by artists who often lack access to adequate healthcare.
Since its founding, O+ has helped provide care for more than 6,300 artists and musicians, and in 2024 expanded its impact with a year-round exchange program.

Concra brings this perspective as both an artist and cultural organizer to the Fence Select process, identifying works that demonstrate strong artistic vision, creativity, and engagement with the broader role of art in our communities.
