The Arts Center of the Capital Region is pleased to present the second Critical Forum Artist Exhibition to showcase the work of past Critical Forum participants. Since the founding of this program in 2019, the Critical Forum alumni community now includes fifty-three artists. The Critical Forum Artist Exhibition 2024 will showcase the work of Critical Forum alumni, including mixed media works, collage, drawing, sculpture, installation, fiber, painting, and photography.
The Critical Forum program is an intensive professional development opportunity for emerging and mid-career artists. Each year, a maximum of twelve participants are chosen for this program through an open-call application process (details will be announced in February 2024). The cohort meets monthly over a 6-month period at The Arts Center in Troy, NY. These focused group critiques are led by the Critical Forum Program Director plus invited colleagues from the field, including arts professionals from the Hudson Valley region and beyond. The Critical Forum program is offered by The Arts Center in conjunction with funding from the Visual Arts program at New York State Council on the Arts (NYSCA) and Key Bank.
